“Integrative Yoga Based Cardiovascular Specialist”
That’s what I like to call myself when I meet people for the first time that ask me how I am different. What I am interested in is aging well. After completing medical school, finishing a residency in internal medicine, and going on to complete a fellowship in cardiology, these countless years of training and studying still provided me with no real answers on how to prevent future medical problems. I have come to the conclusion that in order to help people live in optimal health, I had to create a place that was more than a traditional medical practice.
What completed my vision for this “place” was a split-second accident that changed my life and my medical practice forever. In less than one, terrifying moment, I found myself flipped over the handlebars of my mountain bike landing hard on the pavement. Developing severe pain in my back led to a futile cycle of visiting doctor after doctor, specialist after specialist, all in an effort to find some relief. Nothing worked. None of the doctors had any answers. That was until I met a teacher who, using the Rolfing technique combined with a regimen of stretching, taught me how to breath. This teacher not only eliminated my back pain, but inspired the creation of The Wellness Training Institute in 2009.
The Wellness Training Institute is a combination of cutting-edge medical technology coupled with a healthy dose of ancient healing arts to craft a powerful, individualized plan to get you healthy and keep you there. I created this institute in an effort to integrate yoga, meditation, supplements and education into a traditional cardiology practice. This has allowed me to take the best and most cutting edge modern western science and leverage it with these often overlooked, yet medically proven non-traditional practices
As an experienced cardiologist with over thirty-five years of practice, I have committed myself to finding a better way in order to provide my patients with the care they need to live their best lives. With current technologies allowing individuals to live into their nineties and beyond, it is imperative that we take control of our health in order to ensure a great quality of life for the present and the future. Along with being a heart doctor, I also consider myself a “breath doctor.” Together, not only can we prevent chronic disease, but even reverse it.
No matter where you are on your wellness journey, we can help you live a better life.
