“SitStandStroll” Yoga

In its original form, the practice of yoga may at first seem out of reach for most of us; its teachings continue to be relevant today, however, as we enter this new age of health care. In fact, lifestyle practices-like yoga and meditation-that would have been routinely dismissed as quackery or placebo medicine in the past are garnering more attention today in an effort to reduce health care costs and improve the quality of life. 

This is why I created the SitStandStroll yoga practice. SitStandStroll is a powerful yoga practice that honors and takes advantage of all that yoga has to offer. Most people think of yoga as a form of physical exercise, but traditional yoga is all encompassing and is actually a science. Ultimately, there are two universes. One is an external universe with which we are all acquainted-filled with planets, stars, galaxies, and black holes-and then there is an inner universe we discover only when we close our eyes and look within. The irony is that the inner universe mirrors the outer universe, so we can learn what we need to know through a process of deep introspection. 

One we understand that there is a healing energy pulsing through our bodies and beings constantly, then we know the next step is to learn how to access it as fully as possible. SitStandStroll helps connect us with that healing energy. In fact, yoga means union-the union of body with consciousness and consciousness with the soul. Simply stated, yoga encompasses literally everything that we do. 

SitStandStroll is an authentic yoga-based healing program because it continuously reminds you to bring your awareness to your health. This method is accessible to anyone no matter how young or old they are. Its accessibility is something that I take great pride in. Remember, perfection is not the goal. Perfection does not exist. The reality is that we are always in a transition process because our bodies, as well as our life situations, are always changing. We are either getting better or we are getting worse, and as we cultivate more awareness, WE get to make the choice about which direction we want to go. 

SitStandStroll is effective and powerful because you can do it all day long. It pushes us to be totally engaged in the three things we are doing almost the entire day: sitting, standing, and strolling. Yoga, as I see it, is often about getting out of your own way. By bringing awareness and engagement to our everyday movements. We are able to break the habit patterns that have formed in resistance to our natural state of health and wholeness. When we get out of our own way, we allow our bodies to heal themselves. This is why I often say that yoga is really not that mystical at all-it is common sense. When we stop making unhealthy choices and living toxic lifestyles, the natural healing energy that is present in our bodies can express itself.
