What is Disease?

“Sickness is the vengeance of nature for the violation of her laws.” –Charles Simmons

The word disease is two syllables, dis-meaning bad, and ease. So, disease does not really mean unhealthy; it means out of ease, or out of balance. If you truly understand the principles of disease, you can then act as an expert on your own behalf.

There is an inner healing energy within each and every one of us. This often leaves us to wonder why doesn’t healing just happen on its own What is that healing energy doing? The fact is that your body is working overtime dealing with the toxicity that has accumulate in it over the years. This toxicity created an imbalance, which leads to chronic disease and the lack of vitality that so many of us feel.

How do we become toxic? The toxicities in our life occur on many different levels. First, we are surrounded by environmental pollutants in the air, water, and land. Then, there are chemical exposures in the environment and our food. There are toxins that we ingest into our bodies because of poor food choices, subjecting our digestive systems to substances they are not designed to deal with. There are other toxins we may choose to take in recreationally, like drugs or cigarette smoke. Many of the medications we are prescribed are in fact highly toxic. Perhaps most importantly there are also emotional and psychological toxins that affect us: things such as stress, tension, anger, blame, fear, anxiety, negative thinking, and so on. The imbalance of our thoughts and emotions is most often the reason we cannot break the cycles of our toxic behaviors.

Our bodies have a natural healing energy within us, but when overloaded with too much toxic behavior it cannot focus on reversing the disease process. It can only work on keeping us to the status quo. Once we eliminate the toxic behavior, only then can our body’s healing energies work on reversing the disease process rather than simply mitigating the damage.
